Officers
In his position as
Executive Director of Triangle Coalition for Science and Technology
Education, Vance Ablott works very closely with the Board of Directors and
leaders of the various member organizations. He is responsible for the
overall day-to-day operations of Triangle Coalition and setting a vision
for future growth and success.
Prior to joining Triangle Coalition in September of 2003 the California
native spent 20 years with the Walt Disney Company. Working in a variety
of capacities, he built a strong generalist background in Business and
Management with a focus on creativity. After leaving Disney he spent five
years in Houston, Texas as the Vice President and General Manager of the
Manned Space Flight Education Foundation which allowed him to use his
passion for both science education and space exploration while managing
the development and operation of Space Center Houston.
Most recently he has spent nine years leading Challenger Center for Space
Science Education, the foundation formed by the families of the crew of
the Space Shuttle, Challenger. While space remains a strong interest for
him it is the improvement and of science and math education that has
become his motivational drive.
Trained as a scientist, Ablott holds a BA degree in Biology from
California State University at Fullerton, with a focus on molecular
genetics. In 2003 he was selected as one of his alma mater's distinguished
alumni, receiving its Visions and Visionaries award for his leadership
work in science and math education.
Ablott is married and he and his wife, Betsy, a teacher, live in Northern
Virginia.
