Board of Directors
Dr.
Cynthia Howell is currently the Director of Education Programs at the
National
Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado where she
facilitates seven different intern programs, oversees award winning
education programs, coordinates various educational outreach programs
and develops educational, business and industry partnerships. Her
directional focus is providing programs that reach the underserved and
in supporting and providing resources to teachers in science,
mathematics, and technology education.
She
is a selected Creative Scholar for the Torrance Center for Creative
Studies, a selected educator delegate to represent the U.S. in China
with the John F. Kennedy Center and she is active in Phi Delta Kappa,
National Science Teachers Association, Society for the Advancement of
Chicanos and Native American Society and American Indian Science
Education Society. Although she has been in education teaching all
levels, K through University, since the beginning of her career, she has
also enjoyed a professional dance career, directing and/or performing in
three companies across the nation.
Aside
from her Triangle Coalition board duties, Dr. Howell has been nominated
to serve as an industry representative for Region D, National Minority
Engineering Program and also serves on the NCAR Education Office
Advisory Council. She remains as adjunct faculty of Education for the
University of Colorado at Denver where she served as graduate faculty in
the Initial Professional Teacher Education Program prior to NREL. She
remains active at UCD not only as faculty but also as a mentor and
trainer of new teachers. Dr. Howell received her doctorate in Education
and Arts Administration at the University of Northern Colorado –
Greeley.
