Board of Directors
Bill
Linder-Scholer is an organizational leader and policy professional with
an unusual mix of academic, nonprofit, and corporate community relations
experience. He currently serves as Executive Director of ADC Foundation,
philanthropic arm of ADC Telecommunications, the Fortune 500
manufacturer of telecom networking equipment headquartered in Eden
Prairie, Minnesota. Prior to his move to the ADC Foundation, Bill had
managed a state math/science education coalition, directed a high-tech
business foundation, and taught at the college level.
For more than two decades and in a variety of settings, Bill has been
active in the national education standards movement, publishing articles
on systemic reform and making invited presentations on the policy
dimensions of standards-based education practice and preparation of the
technical workforce. Among his national assignments, Bill served on
several education committees for the National Research Council,
including the group that authored the NRC's National Science Education
Standards (1996) and the committee on the NRC's report, "Global
Perspectives for Local Action: Using TIMSS to Improve U.S. Mathematics
and Science Education" (1999).
Bill's current research and advocacy interests are two-fold: improving
STEM education at the state level, and strengthening the role of
technology in nonprofit management.
