Board of Directors
Claudia
Toback has been involved with science education for more than 40 years.
Although teaching was not her first career choice, she entered and
stayed after her first experience in the classroom. However, Ms. Toback
looked to help others in her profession and took on several leadership
roles, including president of the Science Council of New York City and
National Middle Level Science Teachers Association. She has served on
several boards and is currently chairing the NY Academy of Sciences,
Science Education Section.
Retirement has given Ms. Toback the opportunity to increase her
involvement in science education. She is presently working as a
professional development facilitator, educational consultant and field
supervisor for the CUNY Teacher Opportunity Program at Hunter College.
Her position enables her to mentor teachers who chose education after
graduating from college or as a second career.
