Biography

A National Board certified teacher, Susan Brown has taught science at Central Middle School in Edgewater, Maryland for thirteen years and currently chairs the school's science department. She has presented at the National Science Teachers Association National Conference five times, and run frequent county-wide professional development workshops for Maryland science teachers. Susan has appeared before Congress to speak on science education, and she presently serves on the Maryland State Assessment Committee to assist in the writing of the state science assessment.

Susan Brown has won numerous awards for her teaching, including the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2005. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in science education at the University of Maryland at College Park, which she expects to complete in the next year.
