Einstein Fellows visited the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC) in Columbus, Ohio. ENC's mission is to identify effective curriculum resources, create high-quality professional development materials, and disseminate useful information and products to improve K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning. The Fellows toured the facility, met with staff, and learned the ins and outs of the valuable online education resources provided by ENC online.

Anna Mika, a Network of Educator Astronaut Teacher and lead teacher at an explorer school in Wisconsin, with Naveen Cunha, Einstein Fellow in NASA's Educator Astronaut Program, and John Henry, Einstein Fellow in NASA's Explorer School's Program at the National Middle School Association convention in Minneapolis.

Aaron Schuetz (Department of Energy) and Mark Klawiter (NSF, REC) reviewed the list of elements to be used for Passport Stamps at the What's Next Expo.

During a presentation at NSF, Carol Engelmann (NSF, ESIE) showed mapped
survey data from a community study that her students performed which gauged public support for a skate park in Elkhorn, NE. She additionally spoke about the urbanization study that her students performed using GIS data and satellite images.

Congressman Vernon Ehlers met with his constituent, Einstein Fellow, David Kapolka (NSF, ESIE).

at NSF.

Mickie Flores, Capitol Hill Fellow in the office of Senator Durbin, with NASA Astronaut, Scott D. Altman (CAPTAIN, USN). Altman spoke on the importance of inspiring our nation's children at a bipartisan gathering
hosted by Senator Durbin for Illinois constituents.

John Henry demonstrated GPS technology and a palm hand held with a digital camera to students at Sherwood Recreation Center in Washington, DC. Pictured here, John looks on as the students plan out their strategy for The Paper Towel Design Challenge.

At Goddard Space Flight Center, James Jeletic Science Operation Manager, gave a presentation on the Hubble and the James Webb Telescopes.

NASA Einstein fellow Letitia Hoaas experiences life in microgravity while flying aboard Johnson Space Center's KC135, the Weightless Wonder. Letitia flew with three teams of teachers from NASA Explorer Schools. The teachers were conducting experiments designed by their students.

At the Science Safari 2004, Aaron Schuetz (Einstein Fellow at the DOE, Office of Science) explains the electromagnetic spectrum as an observer looks through diffraction glasses. The glasses separate light into the spectrum of colors, and different types of light (fluorescent, neon, etc.) reveal their different characteristics when viewed through the diffraction glasses.
